Happy Sister Cities Festival Week!

The anticipation is palpable as Laredo prepares to host the 20th Annual Laredo International Sister Cities Festival (LISCF) this week, from July 12-14, 2024, at the Sames Auto Arena. This milestone event promises to be a spectacular celebration of culture, commerce, and community, showcasing the vibrant diversity of Latin American countries and Mexican states across 205 booths.

Last year’s festival drew an impressive crowd of over 21,000 attendees, and this year, the City of Laredo and the Convention and Visitors Bureau are extending an enthusiastic invitation to the community, neighboring cities, and visitors from across Texas to join in the festivities. The LISCF has become a cherished tradition in Laredo, beloved by both locals and visitors for its unique blend of family fun, artistic expression, and bi-cultural exchange—all offered free of charge.

As we count down the days to the festival, excitement is building for the arrival of representatives from various delegations. Attendees can expect a rich array of offerings, including delicious food, exquisite jewelry, stylish clothing, finely crafted furniture, and other goods from Mexico, Central, and South America. The event’s vibrant ambiance will be further enriched by the presence of artisans and exhibitors showcasing their talents and products.

The festivities start with a bilingual opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12. Over the three-day event, the Sames Auto Arena will be transformed into a bustling marketplace featuring exotic items such as handcrafted furniture, jewelry, clothing, and more. Visitors can sample delectable treats like carne seca, tortillas, and candies, and purchase unique products such as rebozos, linen gowns, leather goods, wool sarapes, and various other clothing and accessories..
